The Important Of Sweet Potato

POTATOES scientifically named Solanum tuberosum are the most efficient fuel for energy production, which can also be stored as glycogen in muscle and liver, functioning as a readily available energy source for prolonged, strenuous exercise. The sweet potato usually have yellow or orange flesh, and its thin skin may either be white, yellow, orange, red or purple. Some yams are shaped like a potato, being short and blocky with rounded ends, while other times, the potato will be longer with tapered ends just like a yam. There is often much confusion between sweet potatoes and yams as the moist-fleshed, orange-coloured root vegetable that is often called a “yam” is actually a sweet potato.

However, sweet potatoes are rich in Vitamin A and Vitamin C. Both vitamins are powerful antioxidants that work in the body to remove free radicals – chemicals that damage cells. Also, sweet potato is a good food for people involved in heavy muscular work, since it is a food

It’s Grilling Time!

Warm weather signals one thing to me – it’s grilling time! Time to fire up that grill and get cooking.

Of course hamburgers and steaks taste great on the grill just as they are. But when you want to serve up something that is just a bit different we have some suggestions.

First of all Grilled Texas Beef Steak, grilled steak with a bit of pizzazz. A mix of cumin, chili powder, cayenne and garlic pack a punch.

Asian Grilled Pork Tenderloin is an original recipe that combines flavorful Asian seasonings with the fruitiness of orange juice. A nice mix.

Barbecued Peach Pork Chops combines pork with fruit, always a good combination, and tops it off with a delicious savory sauce.

Any of these delicious meat recipes is sure to get your next barbecue of to a good start!

Make Your Own Candy This Holiday Season

Make Your Own Candy This Holiday Season

When it comes to holiday candy, I prefer to make my own. Making your own confections, is easier than you might think.

When it comes to making candy, you need to prepare ahead of time. Read the recipe completely, making sure you have all of the ingredients and equipment needed. Lay out everything that you will need before you begin to prepare the recipe.

Candy Making Tips

How To Crush Peppermint Candies: I find the easiest way to do this is by placing the peppermint candies in a heavy duty zipper close bag. Wrap a clean kitchen towel around the bag, then use a hammer to smash the candies.

Storing Your Homemade Confections: I find it best to store my candy in the refrigerator in an airtight container. If you are worried about sticking, line your container with parchment paper.

Presenting Your Confection’s As Gifts: Purchase some quality plastic containers, or some

What is the Best Way to Cook Frozen Shrimp?

Shrimp is without a doubt one of the most popular forms of seafood in the US and abroad. When compared to other types of shellfish, like lobster for instance, it is more affordable, and can be just as delicious if prepared correctly. It is an extremely versatile shellfish and with a bit of experience, is very easy to cook.

As the title of this article suggests, many people are searching for the best way to cook frozen shrimp. The reason why this is such a popular question is because this shellfish freezes very well. Many of us, after we buy some, store it in the freezer for future use. In fact, most of the shrimp we purchase is frozen before we buy it from the store. Even the shrimp that is supposedly fresh, has more than likely been recently thawed. There is nothing wrong with this, as I said earlier, this shellfish freezes quite well.

Hopefully the shrimp you already have on hand is still in the shell. You should avoid, if possible, purchasing
